Great success at Leinster Cross Country  Relays  in Kilmacow

There was great success for St Laurence O'Toole AC athletes at the  Leinster Cross Country  Relays  that were held in Kilmacow Co. Kilkenny on Sunday the 15th of January. The conditions on the day were perfect with clear sky's and a great course for racing. 

First up was the girls under 12's made up of Anna Doyle, Sara Jane Doyle, Katie Curran, Brona Walsh and Chloe Hayden. The girls ran a great race with Brona sprinting her way home for the team to a great silver medal.

Next up was the boys under 12's Cathal Dooley, David Ward, Finbarr Kavanagh, Ruairi Mitchell and Jack Mitchell. The boys ran a tough race but powered home to a well deserved bronze medal. Well done boys.

The winners of the day has to be the girls under 14's made up of  Laura Ward, Leah Hutton, 
Siobhra O'Flaherty and Jessica Henderson. They put on a spectacular performance which saw them take the gold in fine style. They led the race from gun to tape, with Jessica running the home leg with a good head start but increasing with her team mates help to a good 30/35 meters again she stormed over the finishing line to her nearest rival.

The girls under 14 had a second team running made up of Nikita Butler , Beth Fennell, Chloe Murphy and Clodagh Long. The girls ran a great race against a tough field but put in a fine performance. 

The boys under 14's was the final race of the day for St Laurence O'Toole's athletes with  Eamon Murphy, Oran O'Flaherty, Bobby Crowley, Larry Doyle and Finn McCabe making up the O'Toole's team. The boys were again up against a tough field but ran a great race. 

This saw the end to the 2011 Cross Country season and ended a fine season for St Laurence O'Toole's AC. Well done to all the athletes who competed and to the coaches and parents for all their hard work through 2011.
